Rich Welden
Club Secretary
Rich Welden is a retired Navy Chief Cryptologist who currently resides in
Sykesville Maryland with his wife Megan, also a retired Navy Chief Cryptologist.
Together they spent 22 and 21 years of dedicated service to the US Navy and
are now employed by the Department of Defense. Rich has been bass fishing
since he was 5 years old starting off on the grass-rich reservoir of Loxahatchee
and the famous Lake Okeechobee in south-central Florida. Through his many
years of service, Rich has also bass fished at some of his overseas tour locations such as Spain's, Lago de Arcos de la Frontera, and Italy's Rio Brenta
and lago de Bolsena. He also fished the famous Lake Biwa, (Biwa Ko) west of Toyko where a Japanese angler recently caught the tie to George
Perry's world record large mouth bass. Rich joined the Bid Dawg Bassmasters
club in 2006 and he pilots a 2006 Gambler 2200 ZR2 with a Mercury 250
ProXS which has helped him obtain the Club's Mr Bass title for three years
running (2006,7 and 8). Rich also claimed the Maryland Bass Federation
Nation's state champion title (MBFN Mr. Bass) in 2008 and was the runner
up for that title in 2009 missing the win by only four ounces. Rich was also
a member of the MBFN's State Team in 2008 and 2009 participating in the
B.A.S.S. Federation's Mid-Atlantic Divisional tournaments at Kerr Lake, and
the Ohio River. Rich can contribute his successful bass fishing career to his
many years of study of the sport, great guys (sharing information) in the
club's he has been in over the years, but most of all, to the love and support
of his wife Megan (who is his #1 sponsor too).
