My first Everstart

FLW Everstart Series on the Potomac (9/29-10/1)

Arriving at Smallwood State Park the morning of the first day of the tournament was quite a spectacle. The multitude of FLW banners, trailers, staff, weigh-in stage, and 123 boats competing was definitely a sight to see.

Seeing several elite level pros such as David Dudley, Kevin Short, and Dave LeFebvre, along with the number of wrapped boats added to the excitement.

As my day one partner (Merle Wood III) and I launched from the ramp, the weather was forecasted to be mostly cloudy turning to partly cloudy with light winds from the SW.

The days leading up to the tournament had seen some rain and a consistent SW wind, which seemed to muddy up the Maryland side of the river quite a bit. This seemed to push most of the competitors to the Va. side – mainly Occoquan Bay.

Blue bird skys, 70 degree water temps and nights in the 40's made it rough for most of the Big Dawgs but Rich was able to bring in 4 fish and win our fall Lake Anna trip.
